Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 10-11)

I shall try and finish off Expedition 33, which Im enjoying and glad I bought, but dont love in the way so many people do.
Im looking forward to returning to AC Shadows, which I was enjoying very much.
For some light relief, I shall be racing in Forza Horizon 5 on the ps5 pro. Ive put hundreds of hours into it on Xbox, but racing with the subtle feedback on dualsense and racing without the annoying pop in @ 60hz has been a treat, and I can race with my wife who has her own pro and disliked playing with the xbox controller.

Also waiting for Doom on GPU, which has had an amazing 6 months!

For singleplayer I’m still working my way through Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered, it’s quite a long game but very fun. 25 hours in so far. Not one I’ll 100% all missions, but I’ll do all the main story content and the most interesting side missions. It’s easily one of the best looking games I’ve played graphically, it’s stunning - a bit of pop-in is my biggest complaint.

For co-op I’ve just started a second playthrough of Lords of the Fallen. It certainly performs better than at launch, but honestly still has major stutters in many places sadly. I was hoping for a smoother experience given how much the version 2.0 update was hyped up. I think they still need to work on some patches for the shared progression feature as it seems to cause major performance issues.

Just received my Series S so I've got two TVs I can play on now and not have to wait for whatever crap my partner is watching to finish so I'm going through Gamepass to try and find a few hidden gems that I wouldn't normally play. Smaller games with shorter runtimes. Played some great games like Firewatch, As Dusk Falls, Dordogne etc through that.

Any ideas appreciated!

@Cakefish absolutely loved that game on PS4. Wasn't expecting the story to be so somber as I went in. Loved hunting giant robot crocodiles with my son. One of the few PS exclusives that I actually wish I still had access to.

Finished God or War (2018) a few days ago but I found it so boring and devoid of anything that made a good God of War game, that I went back to play the original one and I'm enjoying it a lot.
Still a great game.

I'm an hour away from finishing Atomfall,what a superb experience,a mixture of Resident Evil,Prey 2017, Fallout and Last of Us

I'll be on expedition 33 only started the game dying to play more and probably some of the casting of frank stone got it on sale with reward points should be good fun!

Still at Avowed going for 100% on the final main area now just started.

@Scrubchub it took a few hours to grow on me, the game has quite a slow start I think. Once you get access to a greater variety of weapons and traps though the gameplay really gets interesting. The story also becomes a lot more compelling once you get to Meridian. So I’ve been enjoying it more as I get further into it. Nearing the end of the main story now, still have the Frozen Wilds area to explore though. The remaster is absolutely stunning, the lighting quality and use of colour is just lovely. Great game.

Still trying to finish South of Midnight. I'm on Chapter 7... I'm so slow at completing games now it's crazy. I might not finish it though, while it's a cool game, it's getting a little stale. Just waiting for Doom at this point

Planet of Lana, Donut County, Cocoon, Jusant.

About 100 hours into Oblivion Remastered and still going strong, so I've been taking a break from my usual rounds of Morrowind. Also been firing up Advent Rising, Breakdown, and Tropico 6 on occasion. Just started Crime Scene Cleaner, as well.

Since last week I´ve finished a decent game and started playing a true masterpiece

Lost records: Bloom & Rage - So I've finished the game, its not bad but its not nearly as good as I had hoped and pretty much expected from Dont Nod so I´m a little dissapointed. Maybe thats unfair, maybe my expectations were to high, but thats how I feel.

Clair Obscur: expedition 33 - Wow, what a game!!! At the beginning of act 2 and its just amazing how good this is . All of it, the design, the soundtrack, everything. Most likely my GOTY right here. If you like RPGs and dont hate turn-based combat - play it! Or maybe play it regardless 🙂

Started revenge of the savage planet, which is actually really good, couldn't beat the final boss of the first one, so I'm hoping this one isn't as bad difficulty wise. Tried Turtles on gamepass and it's dire so that's gone, and Rise of the tomb raider, to try and put another backlogged game in the finished pile

Mostly still Oblivion but I am nearly done with that & it's been fantastic to return to this classic game.

I download Forza Motorsport after a long absence due to the buzz the recent update generated and its not been horrible which was a surprise. Even the multiplayer was dare I say it fun, I know right I was shocked too.

Did a few multiclass races plus a couple 1 hour endurance races and I didn't get killed in the first corner. Ok in 1 race I did get killed in the 2nd corner 😂but still it was fun. So Motorsport might stay on my hard drive for a little while longer.

Will also be poking around in Minecraft and exploring the vibrant visuals update.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. This is all.

This weekend I'm probably going to continue playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 which finally arrived in the mail a few days ago(I'm just past what I assume is the tutorial dungeon), feels good so far even if it's a little too easy in general, hopefully the game actually gets harder and less flashy the further in I get.

I will also continue playing Far Cry 4, Crysis 2 Remastered(my third playthrough), Balatro and probably something else.

@Fishysensei It definitely gets more challenging. Especially if you rely on parry over dodge.

Oh that's not what I referred to, I have no issue with the active defense mechanic.
I'm more talking about how most fights so far are over in just a minute or so due to the absurd damage my attacks and skills do.
Like, I guess I would have preferred if my own damage output wasn't as high as it is.

@Fishysensei I'll just put it this way...I'm at the end and my main 3 characters are in the low 80s. I've done a single attack over 1 million on a super boss that didn't even take away a quarter health. The enemies get tougher and the amount of attacks you have to dodge or parry from them definitely increase as you go on. Keep those fingers ready! The story is amazing too!

More Clair Obscur on xbox. Also the new tmnt game on GP with my little guy. On Switch, Oracle Of Ages for a replay.

Wanted to play Revenge of savage planet but it is only 30fps LOL. And no its not an xbox issue. Drum roll - ps5 pro also have 30 fps. Ehat an absoulte joke for a half indie game especially since 1st one had 60fps and was released a while ago.

Halo: Spartan Strike (Windows Phone) - In the final stretch now. Then deletion and onto the next game in my dwindling pile of WP games.

I havent said im bothered by other people enjoying expedition 33 as well as myself, indeed Im delighted its been such a success, especially for a smaller dev team.
If Ive implied otherwise I certainly didnt mean to.

I'm still deep in Expedition 33. Easily the game of the gen for me, and gutted that the game has to end O_o

I'll be playing more Oblivion Remastered and I'm gonna try Revenge of the Savage Planet. I also still want to go back and finish Diablo 3. GP is killing it lately and Doom is coming this week

I just got on the Clair Obscur train with everyone else! It’s almost unbelievable

This is not only my first Xbox Series X exclusive, since I have only had a Switch I never played any of the gorgeous Xbox One games. The leap is staggering

Also I think the difficulty has been a little overstated. Not that it can’t be tough, but it respects the grind and if you level ahead I think most fights are a breeze

@RegnumSolipsi what’s got you going to Advent Rising?? I bought a copy to check out neat backwards compatiblity. But can you sell me on moving the dang thing up in my cue?

@ScalenePowers if you missed the Xbox One generation (sorry if I misread your comment) then try Ryse on Gamepass. It's an Xbox One launch game and is amongst the best looking games I've played on the Series X. Which is a bit mental really. It definitely has a touch of a 'tech demo' feel to it but the gameplay is satisfying and visceral enough to last the 4 or 5 hour run time. Perfect Gamepass title.

I’m nearing the end of Act II in Expedition 33. I truly can’t get enough of this game.

Also it’s only like 5$ at Gamestop which is crazy. I remember envying it when it came out, but I was stuck on my Wii U pretending to be grateful for Lego City Undercover 😂

@ScalenePowers It's one of my personal favorite games, but honestly a hard sell for somebody who isn't a longtime fan. The graphics are janky, the flick targeting will fight you (turn it down to the lowest sensitivity setting if you do play it), and the game has framerate issues and scripting that fails to activate, rendering things like elevators you need to progress inoperable. It can all be worked around, but it's a game that requires you to be patient. I've been playing it since it launched in 2005.

If I haven't scared you off yet, it's an amazing game with Indie vibes. It's an epic story co-penned by Orson Card about Humanity's ascension to godhood. The gameplay is extremely Max Payne with Dual-Wielding and Bullet-time, but in a Sci-Fi setting. The game boasts a fair variety of weapons and special powers that each come with alternate fire modes that completely change their function and you can dual-equip any combination of weapons and powers for some crazy combos. It also boasts an amazing Orchestra soundtrack composed by Tommy Tallarico and is my personal favorite element of the game and one of my favorite soundtracks in gaming.

Hello there fellow gamers;
For this weekend I´ll be playing:

• Chants of Sennaar, Xbox Series X. What an amazing puzzle game. One of the bests I´ve played, followed by Cocoon;
• South of Midnight, Xbox Series X. Finally playing this one. Great presentation and ost, with some interesting gameplay mechanics. Not quite feeling the combat though;
• Ender of Lilies: Quietus of the Knights, PS5. Decided to give it a chance, since a good friend of mine is a big fan of the franchise;
• Lords of the Fallen, PS5. Been having fun playing co-op with said friend. It got potential, we´ll see how good it gets:
• Metroid Dread, Switch. Still collecting the final upgrades and getting 100% before the Final Boss. Some of the speed booster puzzles are quite clever. Only two region maps left.
  Lot of good games to enjoy.
  Edit: I finished Chants of Sennaar with all achievements. Cannot recomend this game enough.

Got to chapter 7 in South of Midnight and needed a break so I started Clair Obscur and it’s one of the most captivating, enchanting and visually stunning games I’ve ever played. Also, the soundtrack is the stuff of legend. I’m playing it on Game Pass but I’ll be buying it at full price just to support the dev. Glorious game!

@gollumb82 I'm on chapter 7 in south of midnight and thinking of shelving it for a while as well. Too many other games I'm interested in that seem more up my ally

I saw your comment earlier and thought that we are in the same boat on this one. It’s a good game and I will finish it eventually, but its gameplay is pretty much a rinse and repeat kind of thing.

I'm still playing through Oblivion and loving it and I've also unlocked the stuff on the blaze event on Call of Duty.

@FatGuyInLilCoat Honestly if you're on chapter 7 & you already find it stale.... let me save you from unnecessary frustration, stop playing South of Midnight & move on to Clair Obscure!!! Combat in SOM is too repetitive it is a chore! I finished SOM, mainly because I felt I got so far into the game I needed to finish it.... don't bother you're not missing anything special.

@GoldenPants thanks! That's what i am torn on, I really find the combat a chore, and even getting tired of the repetitive platforming. But I know if I dont finish it now I'll never go back (which I'm okay with) but I just have to commit to one or the other. I really want to check out Doom and expedition 33 and since my gaming time is limited, looks like I'll be shelving SoM.
