Things are getting busy right now over at Polish game maker CD Projekt RED. Following the recent unveiling of The Witcher 4 at The Game Awards 2024, the team has now confirmed that Cyberpunk 2 — formerly known as Project Orion — has now entered the pre-production stage.
This news basically means that a sequel to 2020's Cyberpunk 2077 is now in proper development, alongside the aforementioned Witcher 4. More Cyberpunk should be of no real surprise to anyone - the team has also announced that its recent Phantom Liberty expansion has now sold more than 10 million units.
All of this news comes from the team's latest financial report, which confirms another big sales milestone for CDPR as well. The Witcher 3 — which first launched a decade ago and got a next-gen upgrade in 2022 — has now sold a staggering 60 million copies across all platforms.
Of course, for now we don't know a whole lot of information about this Cyberpunk sequel - but after the controversy that surrounded the first game, you can bet that CDPR will be taking its time over CP2. Well, that and the fact that The Witcher 4 seems first in-line and that's probably a good few years away in itself. Be patient, CDPR RPG fans!
