Update []: We've been informed by the developer that MindsEye Update 2 is now live on Xbox, meaning players should experience a much smoother launch on Series X and S than pre-patch. We're still not seeing any reviews for the title, so we'll have to see what folks think of the game as early player impressions start to come in.
Original Story: It's all a little quiet out there right now as we approach the launch of GTA-like MindsEye, and alongside a lack of pre-release impressions, a delay to the game's day one patch is probably another reason to hold off buying the game on Xbox just yet.
In a lengthy post from developer Build a Rocket Boy over on Reddit, the team has detailed all of the game's launch day details - including the fact that MindsEye releases in just a few hours here at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST. However, the post also goes on to "highly recommend installing Update 2" before playing; the day one patch that isn't available on Xbox just yet.
"Before you jump in, we highly recommend installing Update 2 to ensure MindsEye plays as we intended. It includes key final refinements – gameplay improvements, visual polish, stability fixes, and performance tuning.
This update is ready to install on June 10 for players on PC and on PlayStation. Due to varied platform certification, Update 2 will be made available on Xbox as soon as possible."
The team does detail the update's download size on Xbox at least — coming in at roughly 16GB on Series X and S — but as far as we're aware, that patch still isn't ready yet on the Microsoft console. It's worth noting that physical copies will also be available right now, and those players will be playing without Update 2 until the patch passes certification and goes live.
We'll be keeping an eye out for any player impressions and early reviews on MindsEye in the coming hours as folks start playing this thing, but in the meantime, we're applying a degree of caution to this GTA-like hitting Xbox later today.
