Last week, we covered Microsoft's big May update for the Xbox platform - including the introduction of Retro Classics, which was a huge surprise to us here at PX HQ. However, that release did overshadow what was a huge console update overall - and we think one new feature in particular is worth more of a mention here.
As part of the wider May update, the team announced that Xbox Gift Cards can now be redeemed at totally custom values via Microsoft Rewards. Prior to this update, users had to redeem store credit in $5 increments, but not anymore - you can simply select the 'Custom' amount and enter any value between $5 and $100.
Here's how you can do just that:
- On the Rewards hub, go to the catalog and choose “Xbox Gift Card”
- Select an amount from the drop-down list OR choose “Custom”
- If selecting “Custom,” enter any amount between $5-$100
- Select “Redeem Reward” to complete the redemption
- Once complete, the gift card will be automatically added to your account balance.
This is quite a handy addition to Xbox Rewards, to be honest, and it gives us much more flexibility over how much credit we want to redeem and how many Reward points we'd like to use in the process. We haven't had a chance to use this ourselves just yet - but it will definitely be a useful feature when we're next on an Xbox Store spending spree.
If you'd like a broader look at the Xbox May update we'll throw the full link to that overview down below - and you can also get in on our recent discussion about Microsoft Rewards at large, if you'd like. That's underneath as well!
