Re: God Of War: Ragnarök Dev Chimes In On Starfield's 30FPS Xbox Limit

Would be really nice to have selectable frame rate caps in console games. 30, 40, 60 and even 120. Lots of people are not as sensitive to frame drops and find variable 40-60 perfectly fine. From what Todd said about the frame rate it sounds like it would be pretty decent on a VRR display. Selectable frame rates would also be awesome for playing these games on future consoles

Re: Talking Point: Will We See New Xbox Hardware By The End Of 2024?

Moto5

I think the last thing xbox needs is new hardware. The product line is already rather confusing to anyone but enthusiasts and had divided up features in a strange way. People that are more budget conscious get a XSS, but then can't take advantage of low priced disc games and their OGxbox and 360 discs. Have to buy again digital. A digital XSX would have made more sense than the S

Re: Pick One: Which Of These Recent Square Enix Games Would You Most Like On Xbox?

Moto5

@Banjo- So you consider it trolling when you get called out for false statements?

Banjo-Yesterday, 1:12pm
@BAMozzy @themightyant What I said is that there are Xbox games that are literally the Windows version (true) and that devkits are exactly the same for Windows and Xbox (true).

You are telling BAMozzy and themightygiant they are wrong, but they are not. Both things you label as true are false and now you are trying to deflect off your false statements by talking about direct x and ease of porting.

Re: Pick One: Which Of These Recent Square Enix Games Would You Most Like On Xbox?

Moto5

@Banjo- I didn't say anything was expensive or difficult. And that article was just about direct x.

You are now pivoting to easy porting to Xbox from same code on Xbox.

Why have you not addressed your statement about the development kit being the same? (it's not) Or provides one example of a game that uses the same version? Surely if you know of even one it would be easy enough to say what it is.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Questions Whether Features Should Be Dropped On Xbox Series S

Moto5

@Dezzy70 it does seem like a trend that will continue to get worse honestly. I see lots of people saying they won't pay for a game that performs better on PS5 "wait for it to hit GP" Same with reviews, if game gets lower than an 8 on Metacritic or has mixed reviews...."wait for it to be on GP"

If sales on Xbox versions of games are poor the issues are only going to get worse. Throw in all the LaZy DeVs crap that people say, well it's no wonder Xbox is getting lower priority. Imagine being accused of laziness when you have so much more work to do on Xbox for far less sales

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 For Xbox Has 'Run Into Some Technical Issues'

Moto5

It makes sense that some devs focus on PS versions of games. They are familiar with the development tools, only one target next gen platform and in most cases far more sales. Would anyone here like to work harder for a 1/3 of the money? I'm guessing not!

I'm sure we will see XSX shine when Forza is released this year. And hopefully a few more titles that really let the XSX stretch it's legs. Fable and whatever the Coalition are working in will no doubt be impressive

Re: 2023 Has Already Treated Us To Multiple GOTY Candidates On Xbox

Moto5

@Green-Bandit I don't think we have seen anything from 5 of the 7 games you listed. I have been a gamer for 33 years, I don't get excited about a game getting named or know anyone that does. Games like ES6 could be 8 years out and nothing is known about it. We will be well into a new console generation by the time we see it. Seems a bit ridiculous to say someone is not a gamer because they aren't excited about that

Re: Xbox Game Pass Growth Slower Than Expected After Microsoft Sets High Targets

Moto5

@Titntin Yeah, Game Pass needs more Xbox titles. The only ones I remember really being into have been FH4 and FH5. Ironically all the other standout games for me recently have been timed exclusives. Death's Door, Sable, Scorn, Tunic, Gunk... maybe a few others I'm forgetting have been timed exclusives as well. Also a bunch of what I'm looking forward to is timed exclusive, Stalker 2, High on Life and WH:Darktide come to mind. Not sure if this factors into people's perceived value of Game Pass, but it may effect those considering jumping over from Playstation. Or I'm just cursed to like times exclusives for some reason

Re: Xbox Game Pass Is Profitable, But Its Console Growth Is Slowing Down

Moto5

@Somebody yes, but that doesn't mean it generates profit. I don't see where to listen to the whole podcast, but as it stands none of the quotes from Spencer say GamePass is profitable, just talks about revenue. As it stands the title of this article is not accurate from anything quoted. It is very possible Phil Spencer said GamePass is profitable, but this article or the Verge one do not show it

Re: Video: 'Absolutely Amazing' PS2 Emulator Runs Up To 4K On Xbox Series S

Moto5

@Banjo- Interestingly the best emulation I have tried for NES/Genesis games is on..... Dreamcast! Nester 7.1 and Gens4dreams, swear it feels faster than my PC and XSX for response time. Also some Neo Geo games I have noticed are better on Dreamcast than other emulation I have tried. I find the ACA version of Aero Fighters 2 unplayable on new consoles compared to the Dreamcast. Even using a vga to hdmi and Brook controller converter it is still way better. Was thinking of trying some emulation on Wii U to see what it's like. Or just get a Mister and be done with it

Re: Video: 'Absolutely Amazing' PS2 Emulator Runs Up To 4K On Xbox Series S

Moto5

@PhileasFragg One thing you may notice is input lag. Software emulators always have it, and for me can be quite distracting and frustrating for fast precision games. Shmups and fast 2d platformers seem the worst, specially games I am familiar with already. If a game feels harder, unfair or frustrating consider this aspect

Re: Many Studios Are Struggling With Xbox Series S Requirements, Claims Developer

Moto5

I don't have a lot of time for gaming, so I get very frustrated when I turn it on and can't play right away. Windows updates, new drivers, controller setup, bluetooth pairing, VOIP ect. Steam was resetting my settings in Half Life 2 randomly when I played it, controls and video. I wanted to take hammer to the damn thing🤬 Games in recent memory that stood out for stutter are Stray, Elden Ring and Chernobylite. I ended playing all 3 on console because I felt my experience was being compromised with the stutter. Specially Chernobylite, I found it completely immersion breaking

Re: Many Studios Are Struggling With Xbox Series S Requirements, Claims Developer

Moto5

@SplooshDmg Maybe also the games we play, but I do seem to notice it easily. Lots are stutter free on PC, I apparently just dont play them. I'm not about frame analysis either, just want things to run smooth an be hassle free. This new gen of consoles has been so good that is maybe also why I have cared less about PC. PC has almost become my classics platform, the last 2 games I played where Half Life(the OG, not Black Mesa) and Baldurs Gate 2. Definitely don't need much power for that. If some more really cool games come out on PC that are demanding I may just cave and get a 4090 build, but I don't see anything on the horizon honestly

Re: Many Studios Are Struggling With Xbox Series S Requirements, Claims Developer

Moto5

@Titntin It was pretty funny that he accused others of being angry. Also his claims of software development.... targeting screen sizes??? Maybe ATM machines or a Dreamcast VMU? Doesn't seem relevant to game rendering..... Anyway, the Series S will probably be fine and offers a lot for the $$$, specially when paired with game pass. I just can't help but feel it is why we are seeing delays and not much is really pushing the Series X. But that is just speculation on my part from what makes sense to me and what developers (credible ones) have said. I am excited to see what talented Xbox studio come up with in the next few years though!

Re: Many Studios Are Struggling With Xbox Series S Requirements, Claims Developer

Moto5

@SplooshDmg Yeah, comparing multiplatform games to stuff from Naughty Dog, The Coalition, Playground, Santa Monica, Insomniac is ridiculous. These studios probably get to work with the hardware developers, get to focus on less platforms, have HUGE budgets and pretty much guaranteed sales! It is comparing the most advantaged to the ones fighting for a spot!

Have had less interest in PC myself lately, shader stutter drives me insane!! Haha, but I still find things I want... Like a GPD Win max 2 with 6800u🤩

Re: Many Studios Are Struggling With Xbox Series S Requirements, Claims Developer

Moto5

@BAMozzy I do agree with what you are saying in many ways! If games where to use all these features (except VRS, that has been used and doesn't seem to make a meaningful difference) a game could look and run amazingly on the more limited XSS hardware. But that doesn't look to be the way things are going, UE5 seems to be more widely adopted than custom game engines that take advantage of these features. Also if even Xbox studios haven't used used these features yet it doesn't look good for less technically proficient AA and AAA to start using them anytime soon. Remember we are pretty much 2 years into this generation, it is about 30% done. The old One X and Pro are staying surprisingly relevant for a long time! A lot of what you are saying I see as theoretical and best case, but I guess we will see. I hope it turns out as you say, but it seems very optimistic to me.

I also agree with console APU and architecture pushing sometimes well beyond equivalent PC hardware. But that is mostly realized in 1st party games. Not every multiplatform game can be so custom tailored to specific hardware. It takes more work and time as evidenced by how long it takes for some 60fps patches to release on XSS.

Also using Gotham Knights as an example seems ridiculous. They couldn't even get the 30fps cap correct on any console and run awful on powerful PCs. And it doesn't look that good or do anything special. It is a worst case scenario. I could say Terraria runs well on Wii U and XSX. It is true, but doesn't mean XSX games should run on Wii U.

What I don't agree is comparing XSX and XSS to One and One X (and Playstation equivalents) Xbox One and Ps4 where the base lines and sold the most, settings and resolution where often improved for the X and Pro. XSS is not a base line, XSX and PS5 are. Xbox sells the least consoles and now have divided sales between two models. What multiplatform publisher/dev is going to look at possibly the lowest selling console as a baseline? Of course people that make games are going to resent it a bit, more work and time for the least profitable machine!

Re: Many Studios Are Struggling With Xbox Series S Requirements, Claims Developer

Moto5

@SplooshDmg I'm not trying to dunk on Xbox either. I think both X and S are great, and I also think the series S is awesome for the $$$ or if you have a 1080p display! I just wish the X wasn't as tethered to it. Some design choices also seem odd, like yhe fast CPU. It is cool and allows 120fps in lots of games, but how many people gaming budget focused have a 120hz display? Seems like more gpu or ram would make more sense.... it's like pairing a 3700x with a 1060. The 3700x will always be out running the 1060

Re: Poll: What Score Would You Give 'Scorn' On Xbox Game Pass?

Moto5

I would say 8/10 for me. But Scorn is one of those games that the score number is kind of useless unless you really know the reviewers tastes. The content of the review, how the game is described is what is important. I could easily see this being a 2 for some people
