Re: Time Is Running Out For Hundreds Of Games On The Xbox 360 Store

jkald

I'm a massive 360 user and a physical collector. I do want DLC that has been released though as I feel without it, the game's somehow incomplete.

Even for some BC games, DLC may not be available on the newest Xbox store.

I'll leave here a couple of links that may be useful if you need to check what's available and what's not. They helped me heaps. Also, I'd start getting stuff earlier rather than later. The few months we have left will fly by.

Also, don't forget other region stores. For example, Dead to Rights free DLC is only available on the US Marketplace, Army of Two The 40th Day only on the Japanese, etc. (The latter requires a Japanese disc copy though.)

(Check out the Non-achievement section as well, great sheet there!)

If people have more useful links, it'd be cool to know them.

Good luck to us all!

@AlienigenX

By the way the "premium edition" physical of Lollipop came with a costume DLC code in Japan with every copy. (It's actually the regular edition here.) The codes still work so if you find an unused one, it's the only way to get those.

Not worth to go out of your way of course but interesting (to me at least lol).

Don't forget Japan exclusive games! There are a bunch of shooters on the Japanese system that cost an arm and a leg physically but may still be available digitally.

One that comes to mind is Bullet Soul (the second one especially) which can go up to 400 USD even when buying in Japan. I think it's 10 bucks digital.

Japanese yen is really cheap now so it may be a good time to get in on those if interested. (Yen point cards that is).

I wish MS wouldn't do this of course but they are a business after all. Even after this, I still think they are currently the most friendly in terms of preservation with Nintendo being the absolute worst.

Still, MS considered to be most preservation-friendly, we are definitely in a bad place when it comes to this in general.

@BrilliantBill

For you perhaps but it's subjective, we all have our likes and dislikes. For example, you might not be into Shooting Love 200X but it's a great game only on the 360. There's a physical copy in Japan but even here, it's not the easiest thing to come by.

Preservation also includes experiencing the Xbox 360 store and whatnot as it is. Hopefully modders and whatnot will be able to somehow keep that stuff available but we'll see I suppose.

Re: Here's Everything That Was Revealed At The Xbox Games Showcase 2023

The announcements were all great and quite balanced for every kind of gamer. I'm happy to see Western RPGs in big numbers, more Japanese games would always be neat from others than Atlus.

Disappointed about the 30FPS Starfield thing. Really hope that we won't go back to that being a standard, the developers really seem to be pushing for it.

Re: This Week's Xbox Charts Show The Power Of Backwards Compatibility

jkald

This is the main reason why I came back to Xbox after the last generation. Just working on Dark Souls achievements that I left undone back in 2012 or something and loving it. The game is running really smoothly compared to the 360 too.

Next up, Syndicate (as the servers are closing).

Really hope MS notices and decides to revive the backwards compatible program to bring more over.

Re: Xbox Misses Out On Yet Another Upcoming Square Enix Release

The PlayStation part of Sony is basically American. Other divisions are still headquartered and led from Japan, including semiconductors, banking, medical devices, etc. The general headquarters is here. They are pretty happy with the US since PS sales are great. If that were to change, things would switch.

Not a fan of what Square has been doing recently so I don't mind that much them being off Xbox but the bigger games should be released if they had sense. They can keep their Forspokens.

Mind you, I bought Octopath on Xbox.

Re: Microsoft Welcomes Investigation Into Sony's 'Anti-Competitive Tactics' In Japan

Xbox is absolutely nothing in Japan. They have almost no presence and will continue to be so unless they change their marketing categorically. The most success the Xbox brand had here was the timed exclusivity of Tales of Vesperia and filling some niche aspects during the 360 era (Western game machine, SHMUP machine, uncensored violent game machine).

These attempts were almost always ultimately a failure and sometimes even damaging, for example when the PS3 got a better version of Vesperia a bit later leaving people who bought the 360 just for that cheated.

If FFXVI would release on the same date on the Xbox and PS5 here, it wouldn't move the needle even a tiny bit. They'd have to get FFXVI only on the Xbox and that is obviously not going to happen.

Microsoft spokesperson can say many things but I feel these are just empty words really.

Never been much of an online player but this project is nothing short of incredible. I'm glad sites like this are bringing some attention to it.

If interested in retro, another thing that can help connecting the OG Xbox to modern TVs is a thing called XEDUSA. Ordered mine not so long ago, can't wait.
