I finished Expedition 33 earlier this week. There were loads of boss fights that I wasn't strong enough to do, but I'm rarely a completionist on games and feel like I achieved what I wanted to. Played for about 40 hours and absolutely loved everything about it.
I'm not sure Doom will be my cup of tea but I'll give it a go.
I really don't have time for any more games outside of Game Pass. So of course I've pre-ordered one for launch day. 😀 I'm an absolute sucker for a new Mario Kart, and Nintendo will always get my money as long as there are new Mario Kart and mainline Mario games.
@FraserG Thanks. Always good to have more local multiplayer. GoW 1 is the only one I've actually got round to playing since I got an Xbox a few years ago, but may play it again co-op.
Still Wakes the Deep was great. But I'm here to recommend Dordogne. That is a beautiful little game, and well worth playing if it's going to disappear from Game Pass.
Whatever Microsoft do, they need to avoid rushing out a glitchy mess or incomplete game just to get something out. We will wait for next year if the end result for any game is better.
@Casco I said the same. I've played about 10 hours. I've come across a few very difficult battles that I've crept away from, and I'm playing on the easiest difficulty to maximise my enjoyment Vs frustration, and I'm loving it
But which is better to play on Series X? I've played most of my time so far (maybe 10hrs) in Performance mode, and I can tell the difference in frame rate when going to Quality, especially when I'm running around.
So whilst I haven't played in Quality much I really like Performance
The "this game sold more on PS5" discussion becomes old quite quickly. Of course it will. Even without Game Pass, the install base on PS means it will sell more.
From a business perspective, as others have pointed out, without knowing what Microsoft pays vs what could have been made by sales, we have no idea what's best financially for the games. And obviously not every Game Pass play translates to what would be a sale. I'm loving the game but would not have bought it as it didn't sound like my sort of game.
@themightyant I'm just a tiny bit past the end of Act 1. I keep saying this on here, but I don't usually go for turn-based games. But it feels so fast that I am enjoying the combat. But it's the story, writing, acting and all those areas where I am really hooked!
I have a busy week this week so won't have time to play after tonight until the weekend. And I'm already sad I won't progress the story for the whole week!
I'm going to hopefully give Clair Obscur a few hours of my time this weekend. I might play some Blue Prince but after just a short time with it I don't think I'm in the right mood for that now.
I'm not one for turn-based combat but I am definitely going to give this a try. I hope it doesn't get horribly confusing and complicated (for me) for the combat.
I finished South of Midnight yesterday, and absolutely loved it. I totally understand the criticism of the combat, but whilst it wasn't very varied it never personally bored me, and the art style, story and soundtrack were all brilliant.
I had high hopes for this and I wasn't disappointed.
Can anyone who's played Blue Prince for a while tell me if it really is a game you need to keep loads of notes in? I don't think I have the headspace to get to grips with something that involved right now.
I'm working through South of Midnight at the moment but thinking on what game will come next.
I have £30 in Xbox vouchers which I was saving for the Indy DLC one day but keep being tempted by Alan Wake 2 Deluxe. I don't have time to get to it now so I keep ignoring it with the hope it'll go on Game Pass one day before I get around to playing.
After the success of Astro Bot I really want Xbox to realise the love for family games and platformers. They need a big IP to scratch the platforming itch.
@Balta666 as @AverageJoseph said, it's that sort of thing. I saw a wrong it's/its, and a trauma's instead of traumas. And I think another misplaced apostrophe. Nothing to take away from how much I'm enjoying it so far though.
I've only played for an hour but loving it so far. I've noticed a few typos/errors already though which is a little annoying (I like my spelling ) but that doesn't in any way affect the game. I know I'll enjoy the rest of the game.
@KITG_Group_BrunoB You're in for such a treat with some Switch games. There are probably loads of great games I didn't play because I just don't have time. But I'm a big Mario platformer fan, and love Mario Kart, so I'm one of those people who would buy the new Nintendo console even if nothing else was on it!
I'm not sure the console does feel that pricey. The games might do though. Game Chat doesn't appeal to me at all, but it's not targeting me. Nintendo will have me buying their consoles as long as they have Mario Kart and Mario platformers, as they provide such joy. I've got my pre-order in, and am very excited for Switch 2.
@themightyant Yep. I'm happy with that and if it plays as I hope then I think my personal score could be higher. I have high hopes for this from what I like.
I was expecting something about mid-70s to 80s, and I'm quite happy with those scores for the most part. It looks like just my sort of thing so I'm really looking forward to jumping in next week
Botany Manor was excellent. I struggled with it at first, but a few months later went back playing with a few other people and together we solved it all. Really good puzzles.
I also loved Harold Halibut. I can see why not everyone would like it, but I've not played anything quite like it. It's a perfect Game Pass game to try, so it's a shame it's leaving.
@Westernwolf4 Definitely part of problem is not being stealthy enough. I don't like stealth. 😀 But I will try more sneaking before changing the difficulty. I really like the customisation options for difficulty so hopefully I can find one that suits me.
South of Midnight is the one I'm most looking forward to. I'll definitely try Clair Obscur and hope the turn based combat will click with me. I'm very intrigued by Blue Prince and Tempopo could be fun. A good month, and to be honest I'm quite happy if it's only South of Midnight that I really play.
At first I was really enjoying it. But an hour or so in the amount of outlaws and limited resources means I'm enjoying it less. I know that's the point, but it's not my sort of thing. I'm intrigued by the story though so I'm trying to decide whether to make it easier or just admit it's not for me and stop...
@Fiendish-Beaver I just bought the collector's edition this week, having already played the game. But I think the globe looks cool so I don't think I'll be keeping mine boxed. Also I'll need the download code presumably for the DLC when that arrives.
I really hope this can grab me as a player who doesn't tend to go for turn-based games. The story looks really interesting and I'd love to be able to enjoy it.
I like the look of both Game Pass titles. I'm still not entirely sure if Atomfall will be my sort of game, but I like that it's not a long game, and the beauty of Game Pass means I can give it a try.
I loved Psychonauts 2, FH5 and Hi-fi Rush. A lot. I really enjoyed the main story in Starfield too.
I think my top 2 would be Senua's Saga (it just felt very special) or Indiana Jones. I didn't 100% either because I don't care for that mostly, but for story and general enjoyment these are the 2 for me.
I impulse bought the Indy Collector's Edition today when I saw it was nearly half price (£95) from Game and I want the DLC and the globe looks cool.
Very honourable mention from me to Cocoon and Dungeons of Hinterberg.
I love my Elite 2 and have fortunately had no problems, although my use is probably less than other people's. However, if an Elite 3 came out now I don't think I'd buy it until the next console is out and I can see what the difference is between the Elite 2, Elite 3 and standard next gen controller.
I've just got a new job but now I'm wondering if it's too late to say I don't want it, because there's no way I'm getting through all the games I want whilst also having a job and responsibilities 😬
I loved both of these games. They were two of the very first games I played when I got my Xbox and Game Pass. Often I can't into Metroidvanias but these were different. Such a shame there's unlikely to be a third.
I'm going to have to give this a go. In general I don't get hooked by 'one more go' type games, but Game Pass allows me to try it for zero extra cost, so I will!

Re: Talking Point: Do You Feel You've Had Value For Money With Your Xbox Series X|S?
It's my first Xbox (series X). I was drawn to Game Pass. I don't regret it at all. I have been very happy indeed.

Re: Roundup: Revenge Of The Savage Planet Off To A Strong Start Ahead Of Xbox Game Pass Launch
I didn't really like the first game, but a third person view and split screen co-op means I'll likely give this a try.
Re: Gallery: Here's Your First Look At Screenshots For Gears Of War: Reloaded
Does this have the co-op of the previous versions?
Re: Review: Revenge Of The Savage Planet (Xbox) - A Bigger, Bolder Sequel That Brings Co-Op Fun To Game Pass
I am always looking for a fun splitscreen co-op game to play when I see my brother, and this could be a lot of fun for that.
Re: These 20+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (May 5-9)
@Z0mbie8mybra1nz It has split screen couch co-op! Yes!

Can anyone advise whether quality or performance mode is better? Is the better visuals of quality worth the reduced frame rate?

@IronMan30 Of course! I could watch the showcase on my phone/laptop, but it feels like a good opportunity to give handheld MK a go! 😀

I'm going to have to stop playing Mario Kart World for a bit to watch this.

More good games gives more good choice. So long as the trash stays low then players can get the choice they want.
As for me, time is so limited that I honestly don't have time to play outside of Game Pass, and there's more than enough to keep me happy there.

Re: Here's What Might Be Leaving Xbox Game Pass In April 2025
Harold Halibut is a VERY weird game, but worth playing/experiencing if you can.
Re: Talking Point: Would You Be Disappointed If A 'Gears Collection' Didn't Include Multiplayer?
I would like split screen local multiplayer. I'm always looking for a good local co-op game on Game Pass and this would do very nicely.
